Floriculture - An IntroductionSee Also Floriculture Home
IDL Industries started its foray into floriculture in June 1995. Taking advantage of its existing resources of land, scientists and research facilities, IDL entered this field, operating a 10 acre farm for the cultivation of cut roses in the outskirts of the garden city of Bangalore. Around six specific varieties of roses are being grown, for exports to Holland, Japan, Germany, Singapore, Australia New Zealand and other markets. A network of dealers is also estabilished across major Indian cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. In addition to rose culture, IDL has started experimental operations in the field of orchid culture with Thai specimens as well as native Indian indigenous varieties from Arunachal Pradesh. Further forays are being executed into other flower cultures like gerbera, gladiolli, chrysanthemum and carnation.
